Several years ago, Hillsdale residents Julia Brandi and Marilyn Herrington conceived the idea of interviewing a diverse group of long-time Hillsdale residents to capture their unique and often extraordinary first hand stories of daily life, places and people they experienced and knew through the years. These brief interviews can now be enjoyed and explored by generations to come. These films will also be permanently viewable on the RJHS website.
The Roeliff Jansen Historical Society was honored to support the Hillsdale Oral History Project.
We extend our gratitude to Marilyn and Julia for their creative vision, exhaustive fundraising, and tireless dedication to making these two extraordinary films.
The footage is divided into two sections: “Our Story”, is a 20-minute overview of the town’s history and includes several voices. “Portraits” contains 2-minute close-up interviews of 25 residents.
Documentary produced by Marylin Herrington and Julia Brandi and edited by Elea Wilder.
